“These flowers were inspired by the desire for unity.  A metaphor for the union of opposites that is possible within every person”

Vajra is a Sanskrit word that symbolizes the impenetrable, immovable, immutable, indivisible, and indestructible state of enlightenment. This masculine, lunar aspect,  is often described as diamond-like. The flower, soft and open, represents the feminine, solar aspect of enlightenment. The Vajra within the flower, a potent sexual metaphor,  that symbolizes the union of form and emptiness blissfully united in one state. The lotus grows from the dark, cloudy pond but remains pure and unstained by it. The lotus is therefore an image of freedom from the dark currents of ignorance.

As a practicing Critical Care Nurse and Licensed Acupuncture Physician, I believe strongly in the integration of Western and Eastern Medicine. My practice of Tibetan Buddhism forms the foundation of my practice in the visual and healing arts. I see art as the most personal and direct way to synthesize my experience of medicine and meditation in visual form.
